Kane Property Services (KPS) were engaged following an ECI Phase on a lump sum tender. Fire upgrade works were required in order to achieve close compliance to current building codes and standards. Fire upgrades were undertaken across multiple fire trades including fire doors, hydrants, mechanical exhaust and replacement of the main Fire Indicator Panel.

As part of the fire panel works, additional detectors were installed to achieve compliance throughout the hospital. Smoke exhaust and fire dampers were also connected to the FIP, and a fire matrix was developed.

The new panel was designed and ordered to suit current equipment and special requirements. Due to the site being fully operational, any down time of fire detection needed to be minimised. For this reason the new panel was brought in programmed and ready for complete swap over with the existing.

Works were undertaken in the fully operational hospital, managing works in multiple areas around the client’s day to day activities. During the FIP change over, additional staff were brought in to maintain fire watch throughout the facility, and the full panel was changed out and operational within a 12 hour shift.
